Topic: Eraser, First Scan

Thanks to the help from this forum I finally have my Atlas 3D up and running, that's the good news.

I calibrated it per the instructions and have it perfectly set up.

I scanned this with the right laser only. I set it to "5 meg still", 720 Frames, Laser threshold 3, Max Laser Width 80, Min Laser Width 5 and Binary Ply.

The bad news is that what came out looked nothing like the eraser I scanned. It was a simple 1" square rubber eraser.

I thought that would be a good first scan since it has no reflective surfaces and a simple shape. Unfortunately this is what I got.

Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Eraser, First Scan

I just ran another scan of the same square rubber eraser. This time I used the default "High Resolution" setting that was preset in the scanning software.

This time it came out almost perfectly round.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

I'm sorry I've been so slow in responding, summer got in the way :-)

Here is the eraser I'm trying to scan.

Re: Eraser, First Scan

It looks like the camera calibration is pretty far off.  Did you follow the calibration steps listed on http://www.murobo.com/start.html#calibration and http://www.soliforum.com/post/98712/#p98712?  If so, navigate to the CAMERA page and place the calibration article in the proper place on the turntable (see http://www.murobo.com/start.html#calibration).  Right click on the picture and click "Save Image As".  This image will let us see what's off about your camera calibration.
