Topic: Freelss calibration

Hi,

The question have been asked on the google group but the answer leave me hanging on.

I've tried 3 different resolution for calibration :
5M still mode gives this :

I've used it to center camera and both lasers.

Switching to 1.9M without changing anything gives that :

I found the same shift with the 0.3M resolution :

Uriah previously answer that the 5M VIDEO mode must not be used for the moment.
Is it true for both STILL and VIDEO mode in 5M resolution ?

I observe that when I calibrate with 5M still mode, my scan are OK but if I want to scan at 1.9M I need to recalibrate due to the shift : is it supposed to be like that ? Or am I wrong ?

Thank you to clarify this point.

Re: Freelss calibration

As I say, the results in 5M still mode are not bad :

In 1.9M, the treshold level is hard to find with same light level as 5M still mode.

Re: Freelss calibration

Adaptedesigns, I haven't had a chance to look into it yet but I plan to this weekend.  My earlier tests had the video mode overlaid perfectly with the still mode.  Also, that's a very cool scan!  Thanks for posting it.

Re: Freelss calibration

Thanks a lot Hairu256, I really would like to understand what am I doing wrong ?

For info, I've change raspicam and focus it to get best results but always get the shift between modes.
I use a raspberry 2 updated with the latest soft and, unrelated, a 0.9° stepper.

Re: Freelss calibration

This appears to be due to a bug in the portion of the Raspberry Pi firmware that controls the camera.  I've submitted a post on their forum to see if someone can shed more light on the issue.

Re: Freelss calibration

Hi Hairu256,

Thanks a lot for your investigation, it makes that point clear.

About your convenient web interface, may I be permitted to suggest that I appreciate the threshold value to be on the camera page, because when you are testing about the right value it is necessary to change page for other values : in my view, it could be a little improvement.

Thanks again for your brilliant work.

Re: Freelss calibration

I forgot to ask something about lasers positionning :
in the original Atlas 3D scanner, the lasers are about 5 inch from the camera, does it matter if I put them farther ? (7 inch)

Re: Freelss calibration

FreeLSS supports laser repositioning.  You just need to update their location on the Setup page.
