Topic: Extruder Stepper Clicking!

I have Da Vinci 1.0 AIO and i have Repetier. My prints all start fine and all the layers look great and I have a great setup.... but while in the middle of my prints the extruder stepper starts clicking like it cant feed the filament, and then stops dispensing filament... i don't know what to do has anyone had this issue...

A bad connection on your heater is causing it to cool.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? Should i try and just hard wire the heater... by that i mean cut out the quick connect and put a crimp connection?

That is most of us have done.

This did not fix the issue.. still happening. When it starts to click if i pull the filament out and cut off the end and reinsert the filament it will print fine until it starts clicking again. Any other ideas

Seems to be doing it on the infill, like when it retracts the filament...

Re: Extruder Stepper Clicking!

there might be these reasons:

-too low temperature, add extra 5 degrees or 7 and see how it behaves
-take off the print head and  clean extruder wheels, check them, maybe they are worn out? if it's possible
-your filament might have poor quality, is bent, etc.
-too long retraction, Simplify3d uses I think only 2mm retraction. For instance in Cura default of 16 mm when changing extruders on davinci 2.0 made one colour disappear on 2 colours prints on my printer . 16 mm is for nozzle switch and 4.5 for normal retraction, as default in Cura. yes I know you have one only.
-dirty nozzle inside, hard to fix. Heat up and use some thin needle  to clean it inside

When you check it all , I'm almost sure it will work

I think it might be temperature. When I tried to lower temperature in middle of print , it behaved like you described. Then I pushed filament and increased temperature to previous level

Re: Extruder Stepper Clicking!

In my machine, I experience that kind of noise.

What I found out is that the wheel is not biting on the filament and wheel is getting gunk too.
Cleaned it and cut the filament that have been chewed, but still no luck, it's not coming out and making that same noise.
Did my research from Soliforum, and what I found out that majority is I have something blocking inside the extruder tip.

Took out the extruder tip with a small adjustable wrench, then turn ON to heat up the extruder.

In the picture, you will see as how much was the black filament that didn't come out before and I see some debris that looks like some oil gunk.

And the extruder tip, I put on a small container and diluted with acetone to melt and for me to easily remove any gunk inside.
