Topic: Problem with Type a macines series 1

Hello.

My Type a macines series 1 has broken sad I'm trying to move the extruder by X using this program Pronterface.  But there is only some noise. Engine makes a noise, but without moving. Y and Z work smoothly.

What's already done: printer hardware reflashed, pc software reflashed, new engine.

What else? Thanks!

If there isn't a mechanical binding (stuck belt, that sort of thing) I would check the stepper motor driver. If your board has a removable driver, you can get a new one for a few dollars and swap it out, or simply swap the x and y steppers to see if the problem moves. If it does, the stepper driver is bad.

Or the VREF could just be too far off and needs adjusting instead of replacing.
