Topic: smoothieboard variants?

The ARM based controllers like the smoothieboard seem to be the wave of the future (maybe), but I've been trying to compare the two I know about, the original smoothieboard and the azteeg X5 mini, and haven't found a good web site with a comparison. I'm also not sure if there are yet more variants of ARM 3D controllers out there. Has anyone got a pointer to a feature comparison? Anyone ever used either of them?

There is a board called milkshake also. Smoothiecompatible also.

Re: smoothieboard variants?

I just impulsively bought an azteeg x5 mini for my SD3, it is a smoothie board compatible board as well... I took it with a nice screen and a knob... I did that to make it easier for me, but now, I'm sure I will have to dig into that firmware pretty deeply to make it run !!

But eh : nothing's impossible, it's just a question of time and money... I have time... But no more money (I'm married...) ;-)

SD3, early 2013. Silicon 200W 8x8 heater bed, lawsy carriage on 8 mm hardened chrome shafts, E3D V6 and lawsy MK5 extruder, ATX 350 W PSU, Custom build plywood enclosure, azteeg x5 mini smothie firmware, with vikki 2 screen, fishing line conversion and pulley conversion, M5 Z rod. Calling it Gran'ma, going strong ! <3
