Topic: Revolutionary new type of wood filament for 3D printing

Good day to everyone on this great, informative and helpful site!

Me and my friend decided to create our own type of wood filament for 3D printing and to try our luck with this project on a crowd-founding site (Indiegogo).

We started this project last year in September and after almost 6 months of work and tests, came to a break through. We were able to create a wood filament that contained AT LEAST 50% wood in it, depending on the type of wood we used. The current market filaments have only up to 40% (but usually all have less then that). So you are thinking what is 10% more? Well its not just 10% more. We created our own Bio-polymer mixture to combine with the wood, which does give the filament better durability and properties. And the product is 100% biodegradable and recyclable and with this 100% environmentally friendly. For more about the product you can look at it on indiegogo Link ---> igg.me/at/hnr/x/9031621 or indiegogo.com/projects/wo-fi-revolutionary-wood-3d-printing-filament

And with this we would like to ask for help spreading the word about it, and help us achieve our goals.

Thank you all for your time, have a great day!
Rok

The filament being more durable itself would be helpful.  I had some Laywood jam, and rather than skipping or grinding the filament, the Bulldog broke it down into little pieces that filled up the inside of the extruder.  I had to completely strip it down and remove the hotend to get all the little bits out.

Gladly, we would love to share our creation with everyone. But as for now we don't have the equipment to manufacture large quantities, that is why we started the campaign.

YEP!!! I know that ohhh too well! That is what got me so irritated, that it got us thinking, that there has to be a better way. With out having the filament get stuck, break, fill up and other things that happened when we used wood filaments that are on the market at the moment. And thanks to the extensive testing and advice from a few professors (polymer and wood composite professors). We were able to create it smile for now as we are testing it, we had no issues and it was as durable as pure PLA (Ingeo 2003D)

That is why I hope we can succeed with the campaign and have everyone use it/try it smile

So when will it be on the market to purchase?

Well we got the materials and the infrastructure but are missing equipment for manufacturing (extruder and mill).  So if we are successful with the campaign, we will be able to afford them and if everything goes with out any hiccups, it could be on the market in November approximately.

Interesting review! They did have a typo and write 10g instead of 10kg of filament for the €270, which I imagine changes perspectives a bit... still, good luck!
