Topic: Press has an internal mounts for Raspberry Pi

Rejoice! people who love octoprint.

There are screw mounts next to the Press's motherboard that perfectly fit a raspberry pi~!

Hmm... this makes me wonder if there's a sufficiently powerful 5v power point on the motherboard to power said Pi.

Re: Press has an internal mounts for Raspberry Pi

I was wondering why, when designing a brand new consumer appliance looking printer, they didn't include an LCD and SD slot for independent operation.  This must be the reason.  An LCD is actually a terrible UI for a 3D printer, putting their effort into remote browser based operation is a better choice.  If they were planning on integrating it into Soliprint, it is probably rather far off, considering the current state of the program.

Think of all the software they wouldn't have to write if they had just gone from octoprint at the start. They could have touted it as a "Wi-Fi ready" printer . . . wink

Wifi would have been nice. Serial over USB isn't something I've had to use in quite a long time.

Re: Press has an internal mounts for Raspberry Pi

Are there pin outs on the Press's motherboard for the USB port or if you installed a raspberry Pi would you have to run a cable externally to plug into the USB?

Just looking at the picture, it looks like the pins just near the USB port on the solidoodle board would probably be USB access.
