Topic: Need help finding a single filament that's multicolored

I want to find a spool of filament that is more than one color so that when it prints you get a random 'rainbow' like effect. I've seen projects for using sharpies on white filament or fusing different colors together, but I want a spool that's multicolored already.

Where can I find something like this?

You can buy yarn this way, so I'm hoping its out there in ABS form.

That's pretty custom. You could probably ask someone with a Filastruder to do it for you:

I can do it for you depending upon colors, quantity, and diameter

You can get some nylon, roll it into a coil, and then dye half of the coil at a time- http://richrap.blogspot.com/2013/04/3d- … nt-in.html

People have dyed ABS by mixing fabric dye with water and acetone, so it might be possible to combine the methods.

I would want some simple 2 color mixes and then a random rainbow like one with just several colors. I use 1.75 abs.

Should I PM you to talk more details?

I'm really surprised no one makes at least one type of multicolored filament. All the manual ways seem like a lot of work for something that I was hoping to buy. I will check into it still.

If you can switch to Taulman's bridge nylon, I could help you out.  It prints almost exactly the same as ABS so as long as your hot end can reach 242 C (the same as ABS) you can print it.  Heat bed only needs to get to 60 C.  I have a couple rolls of bridge nylon and nearly every color of rit dye since it was on sale so I could make nearly any color combo of multi colored nylon you want.  Here's a vase I recently made:

PM me if you want to buy some custom colors, I'll give you a good deal!
