Topic: pronterface preview window

What am I missing on pronterface?  My prints are in the middle of the bed, but the pronterface preview always shows them with the origin on the lower left of the preview.  I'd just like to be able to see the preview and watch it as it prints, is there a way to move this preview window, or do i need to set origin at lower left of the bed, which seem counterintuitive.

Anyone else running into this?

Mine does that as well.

Re: pronterface preview window

In pronterface,
goto "settings"
"options"
in the "build_dimensions" box type this
150x150x150-75-75+0

You're a veritable freaking genius. Thanks Ian!

Re: pronterface preview window

I can't take credit for that one, someone posted it to the Google group a while back.

Re: pronterface preview window

Thanks Ian.  I don't know if this is listed in another post somewhere, but what is your background if you don't mind my asking?

Re: pronterface preview window

It was posted elsewhere by Ian, found it after he responded.

I had no idea what the setting was for though, and I don't need to go playing with software I don't completely understand yet.

I'm a video editor, mostly doing promo and marketing stuff for broadcast and cable networks.

You can see my reel here - https://vimeo.com/user826461/videos/sor … :thumbnail

I've done enough 3D graphics work to be comfortable with 3D modeling, and new a 3D printer was something I had to get, even though it meant coming up with things to use it for, rather than the other way around.  The saying that once you have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail is certainly true with a printer.  Fortunately the printer makes a very versatile hammer.  Even though it might make for overly complicated solutions to simple problems, that's part of the fun.

Hi guys. Sorry to interupt. What is a warping by the way. My print folded around corner. Is it overheat?

Re: pronterface preview window

Ill take the credit for that :-)

my one moment of glory! hahaha

Re: pronterface preview window

For warping try some of these things-

More heat on the platform
Loosen the Z screw in the back 1/3 turn to put the nozzle closer to the platform
Clean the platform to remove fingerprints, oils, dirt
Wipe the platform with Acetone which melts plastic and helps it stick
Set the first layer heat to 200 in Skeinforge

Make sure the platform is level- http://youtu.be/5bzAE5-QgUY

Re: pronterface preview window

I find that when I have warping, its due to forgetting to clean the build bed, as there is a thin layer of dust on there that develops overnight.

Re: pronterface preview window

Never heard of wiping the bed down...
Do you pour a small amount of acetone into a rag and just wipe the bed down?

Re: pronterface preview window

Yes, bit of acetone and a paper towel do the trick for me.
