Topic: Press, out of the box prints

I received my Press yesterday afternoon and immediately got printing. I followed the setup guide and had no problems getting started. The only issue I ran into was the grinding on the y-axis, it turns out that the cable management was getting pinched between the x axis and the limit switch. This was easily fixed by just reaching in and moving a little and I have not ran into any issues sense. I started off by printing a few cable clips and a battery holder on the standard .2 settings. the Print of the elephant is the standard point to settings except I bumped the bed temperature up to a hundred degrees Celsius. It took almost 14 hours to complete but turned out pretty well. I need to try turning up the extruder temperature a tad though as some of the layers are having slight adhesion issues. Overall though I am very pleased with my press and out of the box printing.

Re: Press, out of the box prints

Awesome! Prints look nice! Do you have the issue with the y homing or any grinding noises?

I did on the very first Z Axis calibration but I noticed the reason was because of how the black cable manegment system, pictured below, was getting pinched between the back of the printer and the X axis. This caused the Y axis not to hit the limit switch when it goes to the back corner. Causing it to keep trying and thus the grinding.

I reached in and just move the cable a little bit and it has yet to get pinched again or produce any unsavory noises.

A good review for a change!

Re: Press, out of the box prints

I put a rubber band on the cable and attached it to the lid hinge to keep it from getting stuck when homing the y axis

could you post a picture of it for better visualization and for future press owners?

Re: Press, out of the box prints

Awesome to see what EVERY press should be doing out of box. Congrats, unfortunately it seems to be overwhelmingly towards typical tinkering adjusting/fixing...hours of head scratching. Nice prints from start kudos

It won't let me put a link in yet, so don't forget to remove the space.

Basically I pulled the hinge pin out and put the rubber band around it and put it back in place.  Sorry for the crappy phone video.

Yup that's the same problem.  I think just about everyone is running into this so far.

Yeah, that was my gallery.  Same issue.  How that didn't get caught during QA is beyond me.

Until I find a way to anchor that cable, my printer will not print with the lid down with jamming up.
