Topic: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

Got a 2.0 for Christmas, set up and test print (downloaded stl file) went fine.
Have tried three times with two different extruder heads to print a 120mm diameter dish, both heads jam after a few min...cleaned per xyz procedure, reloaded filament...jam after the same amount of time again.

Any ideas?
Using stock software
created my own object at thinguniverse saved as .stl
loads fine, prints the test strip or whatever that line it prints is on the side.
im cleaning the platter with water and microfiber cloth between.
fresh glue each time.

trying to be patient , lol
Help?

Just to be clear, by jamming you mean it starts clicking and not feeding correct? If that is the case, your temps may be too low. You may need to modify the gcode, then convert it and import it and try with higher temps on the extruder. Usually 200 to 210 is best.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

I just get a message on the display saying, extruder jam..OK to cancel...didn't notice any noise.
This printer doesn't start till the heads are over 220c
I really don't want to take the heads apart to see if the throat needs to be tightened ( as another post suggested)

Re: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

You might want to check all the wires, harnesses on the extruder/head and make sure they are all plugged in firmly.. Sounds like an electrical problem versus an actual jam. Normally you will hear a true jam as clicking before it throws up an error.

Re: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

well...
all connections seem tight, filament does not seem to get stuck on anything.
Instead of clearing the jam, I just re loaded both carts....both spit out nice thin steady streams of ABS
loaded a skull from the cloud, scaled t down to about 30mm
set print as SLOW / GOOD
its working fine and is half way through the job.

Maybe set the larger object to slow tomorrow and see what happens.

Re: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

there must be something wrong with something ...always jams, but loads fine.
I so hear a clicking from the heads sometimes when it happens, sometimes not
The only thing Ive managed to print is 3/4 of a tiny skull (first thing ever tried) and a complete owl...both with head 1
I have links to the images of the plate after some jams...but not allowed to post links...if youre interested send me a message

Re: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

i Just got mine 2 days ago.  kind of the same problem.  I can download and print things from the internet but my own designs will not print and the nozzle cogs on them.  using autodesk inventor 8 and 123d desgin, ran both thru mesh mixer and will not print my parts.  but i download something and it prints fine.    1 part was a 4inch by 4 inch bowl and the othe was a way to mount a dc motor to a flat board.  looking for help.

Re: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

Try the website called tinkercad. I use it to make my custom parts. It is free but will require Chrome browser to work right. I download and print my model straight from the site and have never had to run it through a fixing process.

Re: DaVinci 2.0_Newbe_extruder jams

tinkercad is part of autodesk now so i am not sure that will improve things but will give it a try soon.  i am just thinking there is a setting or parameter i could change first.  just looks like my part starts printing to close to the bed and clogs up the nozzle than those i download. ???

Rather you download it, or make it, you still run it through the same slicer. So the obvious variable is the files you make have some sort of attribute that you are adding to them that is causing them to start too low versus the files you download. There is no setting causing this, otherwise the downloaded files would do the same.

As I listed in another post...I re calibrated the bed and things are working fine now...just came home to a completed large 12hr print.  There was a good "how to" for the bed calibration I found here somewhere using a slip of paper.
If your nozzle is scraping up the glue (mine was) it might need recalibrating even tho it says they do it at the factory.
Ive noticed some of the tinker files don't look great once in the XYZware.
Check out myminifactory.com for models also.
