Topic: out of control

tried printing planetary gear at 200% like the nerdgasim youtube video. printed at .3 and 10% density with supports looked good at first. Soon realized that bolts were to thin and cracked. Also, had extra filament all over threads. Printed again, this time at 150% .2 and 30% density with no supports. Printed went into hyper mode and is printing supper fast. Speed is at standard. Not done printing yet, but thing is flying and vibrating. Print seems okay from visual. What am I missing. little help please.

I assume you are using stock software? I have not used it in a while, but there should be a speed setting as well I thought. Did you use the same speed on both prints? I would infact slow down with every drop in resolution by half. If you printed .3 at 40mm/s I would print .2 at 20 mayber 25mm/s.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: out of control

Print speed on both attempts was set at standard. It seems as if the res is set lower that it acutely causes the printer to go faster. Why is that? Also, gear teeth are misshaped on some. Is there a model that can help determine how well the calibration is? Getting frustrated.

There are calibration blocks you download from thingiverse.com, and they will check dimensional tolerance. There are also all sorts of printer test you con download as well.

I know you said you wanted to learn the printer stock, but now you are seeing why everyone is moving towards Repetier Firmware and Host.
