Topic: Cleaning Nozzle Tip

I have a Da Vinci 1.0. I have had a few weeks now and have done quite a bit of printing. The tip of the nozzle is getting kinda gunked up. I have cleaned the hole with the wire but the outside of the tip is dirty. Brushing with wire brush helps but it is still dirty. What is the best method to clean this or should I just leave it alone?

Keep scrubbing, I am able the clean my nozzle pretty well - is you have xyzmod bump the nozzle temp to 230 for cleaning.

I've also heard acetone helps, just make sure your nozzle is cols before using it. Acetone is highly flammable.

What is the best way to use the acetone? I assume you put it on a rag and wipe just the bottom of the extruder (the brass part). Any other tips?

Re: Cleaning Nozzle Tip

i use a fine Scotch Brite pad while hot
than use acetone after it cools down.
if I do not do it on a regular basis
I get burnt plastic in my print.

Re: Cleaning Nozzle Tip

I used a paper towel soaked in acetone, pressed it against the nozzle and raised the bed (jog mode) to keep it in place.
