Topic: X belt tension

So, today when I was re-applying grease on the white pulley, I've noticed that a piece of plastic has broken off from the x axis rods holder, to be more exact, piece has broken off where you fixate the housing of the white pulley (which keeps the x belt tensioned with a spring). I'll add some pictures for the reference.

It shouldn't be an issue as long as it does not break more. If you can find a shoulder washer that was an internal diameter to fit over that stud but an external diameter to fit between the slots it will distribute the springs load over a wider area to avoid to much force on the weaker area of plastic. Should keep it from breaking at some point. otherwise you may need to contact XYZ and based on other post if the parts is not listed on their website which these are not, they will ask you to send them a blank check rather than give you an actual cost. Yes I am serious about the blank check.

Re: X belt tension

Hi carl,

thanks for your reply. Yeah, but I've got a feeling that eventually it will break completely. I'll try to find a useful shoulder washer, but there is also issue with fixation of the white pulley housing. It moves freely and at a higher speed on x axis it will surely cause imperfections.

It looks like I'll have to write to their support, but I'm not sending them any blank checks, that's for sure.

Re: X belt tension

my x on divinch is making a bang bang bang. It looked as though the belt was slightly on the loose. So I tried to tighten it with the chin se lil adjustment screw ,it just holds the position the spring is what actually makes the belt tight . You Can force hold back on the spring slightly , Then quickly tighten down the hold down screw. but the plastic is too week to hold that much force,I think it will slip in a short time. and strip out the plastic screw threads if your not delicate. So I added a slightly weeker spring the same length and width.Just bunghed them together. Then I felt the belt was pleasently tight enough.but no inspite of that the axis starts moving but after 40mm the moter hits the Gass then slow hits the gas then slow then to the right, back to the left.
tried a test part it squirted plastic test bead 10mm to r of bed like it don't know where the serface is.

Re: X belt tension

it still slips past the belt teeth as though I was holding the extruder still ., or if it were binding on shaft. But by hand it moves smoothly across, no bind or sticking .

Re: X belt tension

it almost seems that the motor takes off at full speed to push a greater force than is necisary  and rips past belt knoches.Or
two slicer models are run together at same time or twice the voltage surges to the motor fast, skip .slow, catch and hold  now skip. plastic spegetties all over unfortunately at that time just cancel print.

Re: X belt tension

Hello,
this is just a follow up.

So, I've contacted xyz printing support in Europe about my broken piece. At first, I was a bit skeptic about getting anything from them, because I've read some posts about not very positive experiences with them and also, carls post about sending in a blank check.
Well, in my case, it only took two emails (first one about the problem, and the next one with all the information they required) and approximately four days.
The guy from the support said, that they don't have the part in stock, but that he will dismantle an already build davinci and send me a piece from that one.
So, as for now, this is a very positive experience for me, but to say for sure, I'll have to wait for the piece to arrive soon and in "mint" condition.
I've had more problems returning a spool of filament that varied in diameter (which, I'm still "waiting" for (it's been more than a month)).

that's it

cheers
