Topic: Why do i get my fillament jammed with E3D V5 ?

I get this when i pull the filament back little and down again. It jams immediately.

You need to give us more information like temperatures, material, amount of retraction, etc.

Also, do you have the proper nozzle and filament diameter settings?

1.75 filament. 220 temp retraction by hand.

220c is wwaaaayyy too low for the E3D assuming you are using ABS. Try printing closer to 245c +/-
Also, with every new spool you toss on, use a digital caliper to measure the filament diameter in a few sections. Then go into your slicer profile under "Filament" and make sure the number reflects the number you measured. I don't think your problem is entirely due to the latter theory, but it certainly would not hurt to double check.

Sorry, PLA.
Its not the diameter.
I push the filament by hand into the nozzle. Then i pull it back out little and then push it back it and it gets stuck every single time.

Of course, you're pulling hot filament into the cool section of the hotend, then letting it sit and it will harden there.

Solution: Don't do that.

But only few mm's. It never happened before.
I know that its the temperature difference that traps soft PLA inside the upper section if the channel, but it wasn't like tha before. I could pull it all the way out and back no problem.
I assume that i might have brought the cooling fan down too close to the heating block ?

Ok. 220c is a good temp for PLA. Personally, I have found some brands clog more than others. This could be as simple as quality of filament.
Are you sure you don't have any debris or even a partial clog already existing?

If it is a PLA clog, you can clear it easily by letting the hotend sit at 250c or so for a minute or two as some users do.

It goes thru the tip smooth with little force as possible. I extrude my own PLA so i know its good.
What ever the problem is, its not the filament.

I think its the cooling fan too close to the heating block.

Just because your filament is made on a home filament extruder does not make it good, you have to make sure to pre-dry (if the polymer needs to be dried prior to extrusion) and keep contaminants out of your pellets, and use a proper melt filter. I have no idea if you do any of the above, but I am assuming you do because your PLA 4043D  DIY review is pretty complete.

Th en please eliminate the filament from the equation.
