Topic: ultimate print test

After, reading Make Mag v42 printer review and watching a youtube video I was amazed to see print jobs that created models that had functional moving parts. Anyone have any experience with printing models of this type.

I tried to print a working crescent wrench printed in one piece. it failed horribly. A lot of success depends on the slicer, the software, and the firmware. I don't think you will ever be able to print the wrench or a roller bearing with this printer as stock.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I printed this fly fishing reel ...

It's made with 100% 3d printed parts (not my design) and works like a real fly reel complete with clicking ratchet.
I've also made a working part of the drag system for a fishing reel for a friend who couldn't get a replacement. I copied the original with 123D Design and it works perfectly.
It takes time and patience to get working parts right though. Not easy getting everything the right size and dimensions.

That looks really nice. Did you use the stock firmware and slicer?

Yes, stock firmware but used Slic3r and 3rd part filament.
