Topic: adding a fan?

I'm new here and my solidoodle should be arriving in a couple days now, i know i want to install a fan but one thing i'm not sure is if i need to change the chip on the board to a 1284? cause i not real comfortable with messing with the electronics on my solidoodle but if all i need to do is add some headers i should be just fine. smile

You don't need to change the chip to run a fan. You need to change the chip in order to run the panelolu with sd card reader
