Topic: Ok rep rap is basically impossible to hook up

Had a lot of trouble with my solidoodle 3 but finally got it. Not sure why the Mendel reprap is being such a pain in the butt. Tried baud rate and everything. Any ideas?

Re: Ok rep rap is basically impossible to hook up

As soon as i turn things on and hit connect "3 commands waiting" pops up so I know its not properly hooked up. Not sure if I didnt install the correct driver or what.

I hope the start sending installation software on disks soon. I hate this search and hope it works junk. I have mendel reprap. 2 of them actaully. looks like theres some little glitch. Id much rather use a solidoodle, makerbot, or anything else.

Are you trying to connect using Repetier Host?

Re: Ok rep rap is basically impossible to hook up

Open your Device Manager and check which COM port your printer is connected to. Once you figure that one out, if using RH, click on "Printer Settings" at the top right hand corner. You will be able to change it to the correct port. This may help:

Re: Ok rep rap is basically impossible to hook up

Along with the COM issue, you need to set up a new printer configuration using the same screen that AZERATE shows.  At the top left where it says Printer, the drop down box to the right of that says "default".  There is most likely no other option right now if you click the drop down arrow.

So to create a new configuration for your Mendel after you've got the correct COM port, Bed size, baud rate, etc on all of the tabs filled in (DO NOT hit OK)...highlight the "default" name in the drop down and type in a new name like "Mendel" and hit OK.

This will preserve "default" for your SD3 and a Mendel option will now appear in the drop down.  You will need to go to this screen each time you change a printer and select the correct one.

Re: Ok rep rap is basically impossible to hook up

Ok I'll try this in the morning. So this way I could use the same RH for my SD3 and reprap.
Btw all the printers I get from now on will be solidoodle. Solidoodle puts out a nice quality product. Thanks for both of your help

Re: Ok rep rap is basically impossible to hook up

What kind of board is it,  and where did you get the kit?  You could try uploading the firmware for it,  ideally provided by the seller so it is properly configured.   If it fails to upload,  then the problem may be at the board rather than the computer.

Re: Ok rep rap is basically impossible to hook up

i got it from mendel-parts. they said it came with everything ready to go. So I dont know whats up with the board it wont communicate. I hate repraps and mendel parts.
