Topic: Help needed! Unable to do first print.

Hi,

I am having problems with my new da vinci 1.0 printer. Can someone please help me with the following.

1) There are 2 decorative plates. What are they for and do I need to install these into the handles to seal off the void?

2) I tried printing the demo sample, but the nozzle just moved above the glass plate and nothing came out of the nozzle. In normal printing situation, does the nozzle contact the glass plate?

3) I tried loading and unloading filament but was unable to see anything out of the nozzle when loading is finished.

I have updated to the latest printer firmware and the xyz software. Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks.

I think the decision with the plates is just up to you, I have mine fitted at the moment.

As for the filament, I found that when loading, pull the little lever and push the filament
down a bit further before you hit "load filament"

There is a small tip in the manual about the lever, but it took me a couple of minutes to spot exactly
where the lever was :-)  Worked first time after that :-)

(the lever is a small metal tab situated to the left (if viewed from front of printer) just above and backwards
from the sticker you can see with "CAUTION Do Not Touch" pull this out slightly

I am a newbie, but hope this helps

Thanks Mitchy! I didn't realise that's a lever. I managed to get the filament coming out of the nozzle after Load Filament two times and then it started printing fine.

Did you find that the filament keeps coming out even though the nozzle is not in position yet? A few times the filaments came out too much and make a mess instead of sticking to the glass.

* Edit: Saw the other post, seems like many who upgraded to the new firmware are experiencing this.

Yes, the test strip it not good, I will try a bit more glue today

I also received an answer to this question from XYZ support :-)

Q2. When it starts a print, I cannot get the small test strip to stick to the print bed, it then drags it to the centre when it starts the printing !   What would help this happening ?

Ans:  Right in front of the platform should glue,
If the two lines sticky to the nozzle
Please you to remove it with tweezers,
That we will fix this problem.
