Topic: Fail filament chunker

for those who have been making their own filament and when it doesn't come out quite right.

or for us who always seem to have too little filament left over on a spool for the next print.

i used the 1 3/8in bit in this kit

with this bearing

things im working to improve:

need to add a second bearing higher on the bit for more stable high speed rotation (will help/eliminate wear on plastic from rubbing)

need to add a bowden style connector w/tube and stepper motor to the feed port.  This should give it a uniform size of pellet chunk and eliminate any effort to the user.

Nice! You've seen the other ones posted here, right? IanJohnson and wahada have made them.

Re: Fail filament chunker

yar i saw wahada's and an old video from ian.  i don't have the tools to do Wahada's version although that's how i ended up with these parts (started buying stuff before i read all of the instructions)... i couldn't talk myself into buying a drill press.   this one uses the front facing blades to cut and throw directly down.

hi
great product!!!! now you must have  a motor gear to fit on  to push the filament under the blade
