Topic: Some questions on printer.

Hey guys, I have been messing with my new xyz printer. I like it but wish quality on somethings was alittle better. I have afew questions, which was kind of confused because I have not done this before. Is slic3r much better then the slicing program that comes with the da vinci printer? Additionally I have noticed my printer filament is not going down in counting which is awesome for time being, I am using firmware E. I am wanting to try slic3r because it seems that it works pretty well with other filaments and adjusting temps. I am just alittle confused by the process to use it.

Re: Some questions on printer.

How did you install version E?
Automatically or manually?
Do you still have the firmware file?
In any case, if you could get access to your SD card, could you please copy any .DAT files off it, zip and post them here?

Thanks

if it isn't broken, you haven't modded it enough

Re: Some questions on printer.

It came with it when I purchased. I can try.
Additionally I went to walmart and bought some .065''x100' premium 5 sided trimmer line. Product code 579166501. I tried using it as a substitute and It printed, BUT when I removed the item, the layers just fell apart. Was the print head not hot enough?

Re: Some questions on printer.

Its definitally not hot enough. Its temp max on the extruder is 215c  I need it to be atleast hitting 245-250c. Is there anyway to get this done without doing the reset on the actual cartridge? My cartridge is bugged so I dont need to reset it, but I need to change the temp.

Re: Some questions on printer.

Use slic3r and set temps manually in slic3r or the gcode itself

Re: Some questions on printer.

Tried, Since I do not have a resetting for the cartridge, it max sets at 215c. Also I am having alot of trouble understanding the slic3r conversion. My cartridge or my printer is glitched and it does not decline in the measurement of the spool. It still says I have 120m out of 120m on my cartridge O.o.

Re: Some questions on printer.

deathfinderxx - Could you follow this thread on how to dump your cartridge eeprom?
http://voltivo.com/forum/davinci-filame … to-what-to

If you manage, could you post your dump here, so others can analyse it and see if there is some glitch than can be taken advantage of?

cheers

1.1.E firmware

set your gcode file

; total_filament = 0

and your filament count wont drop

Hmmm, when I was still using the stock firmware I reset my cart but left the temp at 215 and the printer would heat to 215C, the firmware would start it's auto routines but when the G Code started the printer would wait for the temp to hit 230C (my slic3r setting).

Make sure you're using M109 (Set Extruder Temperature and Wait) as the G Code command in your starting script. This will insure the printer waits for the temp to be reached before actually starting the print.

Re: Some questions on printer.

I believe I am setting up my setting for slic3r incorrectly. Can anyone show me the correct settings, and I do not think i have the correct heading either. So if the gcode is set to 255c it shouldn't worry? I heard if i did it would stop and cool down to what the cart says and be infinite loop of going up and down in temps.

Let me say also that I never upgraded from the 'G' firmware once the cart reset was working.

Re: Some questions on printer.

Tried it again, and your correct. The only thing just seems my slicer settings are still not correct. My extruder seems to be to high when printing.

edite*Also it seems that the settings started to burn the filament for the nylon. Anyone know a safe bed and extruder temp for nylon

Re: Some questions on printer.

Ok second time trying i reduced the heat but now im getting error 0011.

edit* did a different temp and it works now. But my extruder still very high. I followed someone elses settings on here but i dont know whats going on.
