Extrude main problems - clog?

I have 3D printer based on  thermoplastic extrusion technology. I straggle a lot with clogging, filament alignments installations replacing between filaments color.
I am looking for other alternatives:
1. Different technology
2. I'm considering thermoplastic extrusion technology with printer that well capable of eliminating most of the problems

Can you please recommend?
Is there table summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of different technologies?
Refereeing to thermoplastic extrusion technology, Is there any company who solve most of the problems, say self cleaning nozzle /jet etc?
