Topic: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

Had a failed print since I didn't enlarge an opening enough. So instead of boring to a correct size, I decided to have some fun smile

It actually held up better than I would expect to that first smack.

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

Well that's not fair!!! the poor thing did not stand a chance...  I hope you gave the part a proper burial.... in acetone wink

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

Your prints don't appear to be very strong, i would suggest upping the infill by 500%

Bowden SD3, Rumba, E3D hotend, Mk5 with RtRyder changes, Direct drive Y axis and bearings, GT2 pulleys and braided fishing line, Lawsy linear bearing conversion, M3 Z screw.

lol
The thickest portion of the print was 11mm and still at 40% inf. It looks larger than it is due to my girlish man-hands smile

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

AH AH AH !! Azerate, you made my day !!

I'll have to try that out with one of my loaders at work... (586 liebherr, or 980 Cat...), but I'm too scared to break those machines though... My printed parts are so strong... (hem hem!)

I test their strenght everytime I fly my tricopter, and I try to do something stupid... (like flying too close from my house, or from a tree...)

It's more expensive, you're right !!

Take care!

Glad I made your day! smile
I'm an operator by trade and prefer John Deer for feel, but yeah, Cat has more ass. I see a skid steer more like a toy compared to the machines I used to run! So how's about this, I'll post a solid cube on thingiverse, and we will both use ONLY BUCKETS to test strength?
Your Cat will out do the Bobcat any day. Even a shovel if in the hands of a guy on PCP...but I think this would be a fun comparison! big_smile

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

Ok, Let's do it !

I'm serious !! Let's do a Crash test thread !

I have plenty of machines to test actually... going from the 262C Cat skeedsteer, up to the 944 CHD liebherr material handler...

I have also a couple of W345 CMH Cat as well, talking about monsters...

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

You have bigger toys than I do at work nowadays! If I still ran off road trucks and motorgraders we could have a solid comparison. But until then...http://www.soliforum.com/post/57048/#p57048

I think this thread more qualifies for print showoff, but it is a project nonetheless!

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

Oh Man... how can you say Cat has more ass... old Cat yes but the new stuff just breaks down when you look at it wink

I have a few pieces of iron laying around but they don't all have buckets so I would suggest a crawlover test as well.

Agreed! Whether or not a bucket/forks/tiller attachment are use, it must be driven on if not destroyed yet. Steel tracks may be considered cheating, but I personally would find it hilarious and don't consider this a contest anyway.

Cats have just as much power now as they did back then, but require the fluids to be in constant check. However, the hydraulics are less glitchy than before...I've known a few guys who were severely injured, one paralyzed due to hydraulics failing on old Cat trackhoes. They aren't toys any way you spin it. smile

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

Tiller attachment....Hmmmm... might be tough finding the print afterwards wink

I am with you on hydraulics being dangerous just last month a guy around here was helping remove hoses and ended up with blood poisoning because he didn't follow some safety rules, could have lost his arm if he had waited a few more hours to get to the ER!!!

I was planning on a few things with steel tracks sad I could do it on dirt.... at least the print would have a fighting chance.... oh well we do have a few things with rubber tracks/tires on them smile

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

I have a 6000 HP car shredder and a 2300 T shear I can put in line... It will be tough to find the print back after process unfortunately, so I declare them off chart !!

The Dozer is definitely in line Wardjr !! I want to see the blade crushing it !!

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

bnj, I feel so powerless now that you have upped the anty, all of my iron combined will not come close to 6000HP [hangs head in shame]

but I can't quit!!! so sooner or later I will get a chance to stress test a print smile

Re: Printed part vs Bobcat skid steer

Don't worry, and don't call the shame on you  Ronsii, they are off chart.

And the reason I have those toys available, is because I'm in charge of a scrap recycling plant... I don't own it personally (I couldn't even afford the electricity bill for 1 day of production to be perfectly honest...)

But I have a 21 acres playground, with a vessel dock, full of toys to play with everyday. And that is fun ! :-D

^^ LOL  I know, just kidding with ya'

I have access to a lot of things also but I have my personal share of 'scrap iron' besides all the stuff in the construction outfit wink
