Topic: Received my printer today, print related question

Just got my printer today big_smile

Anyway I set it up and used Ians blog to set everything up and get familar with the printer and software. (Nice work!!)

I tried my first print which was a yoda head at .3mm layers. No calibration or bed leveling just straight out of the box and printing.  I do have a small rattle but the carriages look ok and no cracks.  It sounds like the x axis might have a little play in the slide which can be adjusted no problem.  I got some layers which drooped over the edge on the print and a little choppiness on some of the edge.  My question is can anyone point me into what to adjust to fix this so im not just doing trial and error.

Thanks for all the great info

Re: Received my printer today, print related question

Doesn't look bad for straight from the box.

Things I would start with

Level bed (paper method or dial indicator if you have one)

Calibrate extruder

Check x and y belt tension,  should be similar

Obviously after everything make sure you check bed height again and make sure it won't crash

There's more and ill let someone with a printer go into it for you but these are good places to start.  It might help other members if you tell us the temperature you ran bed and extruder at.

Re: Received my printer today, print related question

I ran the extruder at 200 and the bed at 100.  I'm thinking maybe to try printing at 195 and see if that helps a bit
