Topic: how to repair the lcd, easy fix

some of us have been sent their da vinci printer but the lcd screen doesn't work
here is a simple solution
in fact the lcd IS working but the stripped wire was damaged during the mounting of the printer
I've been told by mail it was due to the shipping....
well shipping can't damage wires glued  in the machine, under the plastic cover

so i decided to remove the plastic shell and search for the problem

here is the video

Mine was damaged in exactly the same place, no chance it was due to the shipping. It looks to me like someone in production has been jamming a knife or a screwdriver under the plastic to remove the top at some point.

Anyhow, if you ask support nicely (took about a week to get back to me) they will send you a replacement cable, mine arrived this morning.

They've posted a video on the support page that show's how to fit it if your not sure. Can't add links for some reason but it's at the bottom of their support videos page, 'Display Panel trouble shooting and repair'.

when i saw their video , i tought
"ok i've got to do it, if i don't want to wait in vain"
it's really not complicated
i just had to solder 2 tracks of the strip

Re: how to repair the lcd, easy fix

I don't think they even had this video up on the site when I had the problem with my LCD (DOA), but it was relatively straightforward to just replace the cable even w/o instructions.  I didn't end up taking off the two back covers to do it, just opened up the access panel and inserted the access panel.  At least the video shows how simple it is to take the covers off for other servicing.

Of course, I just had to send in my motherboard for a swap...but that's another story.
