Topic: DIY Filament Winder and question

I've recently been working on a filament winder using my arduino, some K'nex, and a few photoresistors.  I have it working but lack the proper 3 volt power supply for the motor.  My question is as follows: Would running the motor at a lower PWM from 5v be the same (or about the same) as from 3v?  Thanks in advance!

I definitely will once I get it propped up on its side and work out the bugs!  Would a write-up for it belong in the Filastruder section or here?
