Topic: Extruding vs Printing Temperature

Hi!
I've been extruding ABS for some time already. For the ABS that I am using I set extrusion to 180ºC. But I still didn't get the proper temperature for 3D Printing. Have you guys reached any relation between extruding and printing?

For instance, while printing at 215ºC the melt flow seems right, but once in a while I get burned spots.

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks!

Re: Extruding vs Printing Temperature

Really too many variables to say here. We don't know what ABS resin you're using, or what hot end you're using. Finding ideal printing temperature is a bit of trial and error.

I extrude MG94 ABS at 187C, and print it at 205C on a Solidoodle hot end.

Hi Tim!
This is the one that I am usnig: LG HF380 - Melt Temperature (210~240) / Melt Flow Rate (43). Using a 0.35mm RepRap nozzle to extrude 3mm filament.

Re: Extruding vs Printing Temperature

I may be off on this.  I get dark spots on my prints sometimes too.  It's kind of frustrating.  I think mine come from residue on the outside of the nozzle from where I had a failed print and the head plowed through some plastic.  It' seems to help if I clean it up some.
