Topic: Is this a good nut to choose for anti-z axis backlash?

Hiya everyone, I was going to pickup a brass hex nut at mcmaster-carr. My goal was to add it for anti-z backlash, because I suspect I have a problem.

As per the google group discussion: https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgr … 8o1o5FG4Y.

Brass Hex Nut 5/16"-18 Thread Size, 1/2" Width, 17/64" Height

It's sort of hard to link on mcmaster, but that's the description for the only brass nut I could find in 5/16th & 18 thread. I assume I should use brass... I could be wrong on that, that's part of the reason I'm asking.

I'll let you all know how it goes, after I order them.

Just a plain old 5/16-18 from the hardware store should be fine, I would think.  Granted, it might be a little tough to track down, they didn't have it in the bins at my store, just in a little package.

Hmm, believe it or not it might be easier for me to order them from McMasterCarr. I can tack them to another order. They're ~$6 for 25 from McMaster, and I figure anything at Home Depot will be $3 at least. I've always found it very hard to find things at home depot.

But, if as you say any 5/16th 18 thread hex nut will work, then it sounds like I'm in good shape with this brass one.

Thanks for the help, again:).
