Topic: Extruder housing is warping & melting

In a previous post I talked about an extruder I designed to fit the original hot end and motor.

A few days ago, I decided to replace the original carriage ends with Lawsy's version with linear bearings.  At the same time I installed the new extruder head.  Everything is moving smoothly, did a couple of dry runs to make sure there's no binding, etc.

Then it came time for a real test.  It's here that I found a really big problem.  My extruder housing is getting so hot, it's warping.  The ABS plastic gets so hot it nears the melting point.  Well maybe not quite melting, but hot enough to soften up and warp.

What can I do to prevent that?

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...
