Topic: Filastruder speed

I know this may sound like a silly question  but how long should it take the filastruder to make filament out of the bag of pellets that came with the filastruder?

Mine is running 12h now and there is still 1/3 of the pellets left. Running at 185° cant say much about the extruding speed as i didnt measure it.

The filament looks good and has now very little impurities I must say so far i am really impressed by it smile

i nearly forgot height from nozzle to ground is around 51"

Re: Filastruder speed

Depends on which motor you have. What's your serial number? I'm guessing you're a Kickstarter backer (2lbs/day with ABS).

The bag that comes with it is just over 1 pound. Your extrusion rate sounds about right for the Kickstarter motor. The post Kickstarter motor (available in the store) nearly doubles extrusion speed and is a drop in replacement.

Re: Filastruder speed

Ah its a Fully asembled with the #233 (which is why i think of it as Comrade KV-13)

Well then i am happy that it seems to run perfectly, just ordered the new nozzles with the filter guess ill upgrade the motor later when i get more pellets.

On another notein the last hour the filament began to get wobblyis that a sign for a clog in the nozzle or can it be that the ambient temperature (around 13°) is a little too low?

Oh and before i forget it thank for this really great machine one of the best kickstarters i ever backed!

Re: Filastruder speed

Wobbly can indicate a few possible problems:

1.) Pellets not feeding well - check that slot in the pipe still faces (at least mostly) up, and that the hopper is not empty)
2.) Filament guide is not quite right - check against the manual and adjust the position of the guides.
3.) Something is interfering with the filament's ability to fall to the ground undisturbed.

Thanks for the kind words. It has been a great machine for me as well - I have one running right now!

Re: Filastruder speed

1.) Pipe facing is as perfect as it was when i started the machine
2.) didnt touch the filament guide since i started 12h ago
3.) everything falling fine

but i guess it was just some sort of hic up the wobbles get longer and fewer

Seems like the little machine smelled that i was talking to his maker wink

Thanks for the fast response!
