Topic: Oval filament

Any idea what causes the filament to be oval instead of round?  I've re-drilled the hole to make it larger for the PP plastic, and the hole looks round.

The filament I'm getting out is 2.19 mm X 1.74 mm.

Any and all comments welcome.

Is the filament touching anything at all? The filament guide? Horizontal or vertical? Data, man!

Extruder is verticle.  Nozzle is stock (hole has been drilled bigger).  Nothing it touching the filament once it comes out of the extruder.  Temperature is 185 C, plastic is PP.

Two possibilities then - the hole isn't round, or there's swirling occurring at the molecular level that is causing the oval die swell. Typically not a problem in my experience with ABS.
