Topic: Sanguinololu to RAMPS Mount + Clipon 40/50mm Fan Holder

Similar to Lawsy, I a while ago converted to RAMPS. I never got around to posting up the bodgy bracket I had, but in the past day I've been writing up a new how-to on converting your SD to use RAMPS, so I made a newer one.

It differs from lawsy's in that it uses the typical 40/50mm fan, has a clipon/off bracket for it, and accomodates the use of the Smart LCD adapters and RRD Fan-Extender (the two white boards in the pics).

This features a small inset to house a sidecar board that I use to convert the limit switches and provide about 10 12'v connections for always on stuff like LEDs and Fans.. but more on that in the how-to.

It bolts to the existing Sang holes on the SD, and then you can use either bolts, screws or even zip-ties to attach the RAMPS to the bracket. All of the above methods work quite reliably (ask me how I know wink )

The fan mount is clipon as it provides easier access to stuff, and many of the RAMPS kits come with 40 or 50mm fans - I have both as well so have made a Clipon for both.

Attached are the STL's and Sketchup, I'll also post it up on Thingiverse.

Yeah, I've been dragging my feet on getting a how-to posted, so hadn't gotten around to posting my newer bracket setup either big_smile

Will have the how-to finished tomorrow hopefully. It has how to preserve your existing SD limit switch connectors and expand the 12V supply the RAMPS offers (hence the sidecar board made from simple strip-board and some headers)

I admit to being prodded along by lawsy's post (even commented in there I'd pull my finger out), But lawsy's approach is a bit different anyway and supersize-me's the fan - mine sticks to the 40/50mm in the kits and accomodates the Smart LCD adapter and Fan Extender... big_smile big_smile

FYI, I updated last night the STL's and Sketchup... I've added a small support to one of the clip legs to stop it sliding past the PCB...

Here is mine. I like yours better. I am in serious need of PCB connectors. Any leads on where to get a bunch cheap?

Depends.

eBay is good for Pin Headers.. but always double check the spacing.

For more exotic stuff, http://www.seeedstudio.com/depot/ is good for stuff.

Of course theres SparkFun; http://sparkfun.com ; however, I'm finding that their one-off prices are getting more and more exxy.

Adafruit Industries is often good for exotics as well; http://adafruit.com

You also have the usual Wholesalers; http://digikey.com ; http://mouser.com ; http://www.rs-components.com/index.html and http://farnell.com/

www.pololu.com/ also do a nice line of PCB Pins and Crimp connectors... I use them a lot to make custom looms...
