Topic: Current Best RepRap Version with Electronics Kit Avalable?

Recently got my SD3, and i realized that the only thing better than a 3d printer, is multiple 3d printers!

So im looking to build me a reprap. i know there are several "models" to choose from as far as 3d files and mechanical bits go. does anyone have any experience with them enough to shed some light on which one to choose as opposed to the others?

i do want one with a relatively large build area (SD2 size absolute minimum) . i have seen one in a video that looked like it had a double width build platform for longer parts. bonus points if anyone can point me in the right direction to learn more about that. also interested in something large enough to add a dual extruder.

I got an Airwolf 3D XL. Build area is big. I put the kit together in 10hrs. Thank you to all the things I learned from the great people of this forum calibration was easy. I am still twiking it because my circles are not perfect but are bettern than the ones from my SD3.

Mendel Max is supposed to be pretty good.

No trees were harmed in the creation of this email, though some electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

With all the mods out there and all the documentation... a prusa i2 or i3 isn't a bad way to go. There is definitely a lot of support. That is what I recommended for my girlfriend. well, first it was a 'doodle then the prusa.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

I recently backed the Rigidbot on Kickstarter, it's new, but based on the reprap platform (mostly). The Rigidbot big is 12*16*10. They are back ordered till next year though smile check it out. Kits are pretty cheap. (Less than what I paid trying to build a Rostock!)

That rigidbot looks good.

I also have my eye on the seemecnc rostock max kit. but getting mixed reviews/signals from others online. Not sure if the issue was just early run kits or something endemic to the kit quality.
