Topic: Free or cheap cfd software?

Hi everyone,

I'm after some free or cheap cfd software for PC. I would like to input an STL and have a visual representation of the air flow over it.

There seems to be a few around but they seem needlessly complicated to compile and/or install.

Perhaps someone can recommend me something?

It has a very steep learning curve but OpenFOAM is the only one that comes to mind.

I would also suggest looking into Salome but that's another step down the rabbit hole.

Didn't see this earlier but thank you.

This.

Free until August at least. PC and Mac. Accepts stl among others.

The best thing is it just works. All the parameters are easy to understand and change, and the output graphics are changeable too.

I'll have to take a closer look at that - too bad it'll shoot up to a zillion dollars price after August.

I know it's limited in terms of only doing airflow over an external surface, but this is the only thing I was after.

I think they have extended the time frame with updates a few times in the past, so hopefully that happens again in the future.
