Topic: RH on winxp

Anybody using RH with XP and if so what version of .net framework are you using. I just did a fresh install of XP  (sp3 and all the updates .net3.5). I can load RH but when I hit connect the infamous popup says: RH has encounter an error and needs to close yada yada yada. note: it runs ok on  win8

Re: RH on winxp

I'm running XP with SP2 and 3.5 on my desktop.  Tried setting it up on my laptop, to make it a dedicated computer for my printer,  but I couldn't get it to connect even with SP2 and 3.5.  Fixing to reinstall XP on my laptop and start over.

On a side note, a buddy of mine wonders if my laptop is too old... or rather if my usb ports are too outdated.  Does anyone know if the SD connect to USB 1.0?

Re: RH on winxp

I had to update my .net to 3.5 sp1 from 3.5 , it works now.

Has anyone tried using the Solidoodle form a XP virtual machine? There have been a few people asking about that.

Former Solidoodle employee, no longer associated with the company.

Re: RH on winxp

I've been using RH in a Win7 VMware virtual machine just fine. But I'm only using it as a slicer. Not for printing. But it should work for printing. The only potential I could see for a problem in printing would [possibly] be millisecond delays as the gcode traverses the virtualized environment and passes thru the physical hardware to the device.

I had been using an WinXP SP2 VM in the same capacity previously before I changed to a new VM.

Did you have a specific VM question?
I assume you're probably running XP as a VM within Mac?
If its going to lead off topic, lets open a new post and notif me.
