If you notice, they use a Gen1.

Ah yes, now that I look closer it does look a little smaller tongue

Re: Solidoodle Featured in Intel Commercial

This was mostly a surprise to us. As I recall it was a design firm who bought the Solidoodle 1 very early on.

Contracted by Intel to make the commercial most likely. At least they have good taste smile

Re: Solidoodle Featured in Intel Commercial

Every once and a while I hear from them. The guy posts on Reddit from time to time (which I suggest every does - Solidoodle is a little under mentioned on r/3Dprinting). I wish he had upgraded, because I think he would like the Solidoodle 2 better. He's had some repair issues.

Re: Solidoodle Featured in Intel Commercial

I think after there is more solidoodles in the wild, there will be more of a following thus more mentions.

Kind of like how makerbot is mentioned almost everywhere 3d printing is mentioned, solidoodle is more affordable and therefor will gain a higher rate of adoption, provided you guys can pump enough out to meet demand, haha smile

True,
but I would love to mobilize the "hard core" Solidoodle community to make some posts. It would be nice to see. As it is the Printr bot guys are sort of dominating the arena.

Re: Solidoodle Featured in Intel Commercial

That's a Gen 2.  The Gen 1 has a wooden subframe and electronics mounted on the side facing the camera.  This one has printed carriages, though they are white rather than black.

Maybe it's a Gen 1.2.  Did Gen 1 printers ever ship with the Gen 2 form factor, but 100mm bed size?

Re: Solidoodle Featured in Intel Commercial

Sort of. There were several transitional models. This is actually a Gen2 Prototype, but it's much closer to being a Gen1. After this guy had some problems, we made sure to be more careful about shipping prototypes.
