Topic: Connecting Atlas3D to a protected network.

I've recently purchased an Atlas3D kit and have assembled it, when attempting to perform the initial connection setup my only USB device (A USB3.0 128GB drive) does not appear to be recognized by the Pi board for loading the connection software, the lasers never turn on and no files are ever transferred to the USB device.  I am also unable to connect the Pi board to a monitor, mouse and keyboard.  Is there a place I can get the connection software from the internet instead of the board itself?

Hi Vixx, everything is preconfigured on the included Micro SD card.   Ensure that is is plugged into the slot on the bottom of the Pi (not via USB).  To run directly from the Pi and not via a network connection, attach a keyboard and monitor to the Pi and then power it on.  You should see the boot up process begin in the monitor.

That information is, unfortunately, unhelpful and sidesteps my issue.  I did manage to find an old Ethernet cable that still worked and I was able to access the scanner's interface from there to set up the wireless connectivity.  The directions for first time setup state that the preferred method is to attach a USB drive to the Pi so that the software loaded on the SD card can transfer the network setup information to it which one then types in after attaching said USB drive to a PC.  In my particular case either I misunderstood/misread the initial steps or the software that comes with the scanner doesn't support my particular USB drive, a Samsung BAR 128GB that has a USB3.0 interface.  I don't have any USB2.0 drives anymore to test but I believe that the software doesn't recognize USB3.0 devices or devices as large as I tried to use.

this might be too late but i put it here any way.  For a new SD card I put a configured wpa_supplicant.conf  (copied from another existing pi) and empty file named 'ssh' in the card root directory.  When it boots the Pi will look for the files, configure itself for wireless and enable SSH.  I then look in my router DHCP for the device and ipaddress

This will be useful for the next time I set up one of these scanners, thanks.

Re: Connecting Atlas3D to a protected network.

Hi Jz,  how do you configure the WPA_Supplicant.conf? I brought my Atlas 3D kit way back when it first kickstarted and never got it to work. I got busy with life and other stuff and I think I was stuck on this part. The camera turns on but I can't get the lasers to work and there are some errors when the Pi first boots up but I can't figure out how to scroll back to see the errors.

Anyway I had a problem setting up the wifi connection too and never got to the config file part. But I had setup the connection through the Ethernet like Vixx but couldn't figure out how to get past the protected network. Now I know I was supposed to connect through the wifi.

I can currently see the first page of the web software when I connect to the IP address that comes up when the pi starts. But I cannot see the camera preview image in the Camera tab. Does it mean there is an issue with my camera ribbon? The light is on and it does say camera is online when the PI boots up.

If this is a fairly modern PI installation you need to enable the camera in raspi-config (interfacing options), https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati … /camera.md

Not sure why they did this, if I've plugged a camera in, chances are I want it enabled.
