Topic: windows not detecting printer da vinci 2.0A duo

i got it off a friend for free and am trying to get the USB port working but no matter what i try windows does not register it. I have checked the board and the three led's are lit. I also tried a continuity check on the port which came back fine. Does anyone have any idea of what i can do to either fix the USB port or be able to print with a dead one? i treid copying a gcode to the micro SD but its write protected. The printer is not even appearing in device manager and windows is not making the usual sound it makes when a device is plugged in. I have tried a known working cable to no avail as well

Sounds like the USB port on the machine may be bad. What version of Windows do you have?

You would need to get a new board for the printer or get a different controller and make it open source.

i dont know what board would be compatable and i cant seem to find any replacement boards online so the only real option is to replace it with open source parts

All boards are compatible. Once the logic is removed it is off the shelf parts. An X motor, Y motor, Z motor maybe dual, and the two extruders. So you just need a board that can run 4 axis steppers and two extruders. Then install and configure Marlin, or Repetier firmware. It's not easy to do as you will need to trace all the wires and figure which is which but it can be done. Otherwise maybe sell it for parts and get an open source printer.
