Topic: Problems getting things right

Anyone have any help they can lend? Trying to get a bead on the settings for recycling PLA. I can’t seem to get it to where it needs to be. Trying to extrude at around 150c and nothing comes out, and when I raise the temp to around 165c it’s too thin, and very brittle.
Any suggestions please?

Re: Problems getting things right

PLA is one of the more challenging plastics, and recycled PLA especially so. Even mores if you don't know the specific type of PLA you're processing.

But in general:
150C is too cool
Too thin is fixed by drilling out the nozzle or adding more cooling
Brittle means that it isn't properly dried - that's the effects of moisture in the polymer

Stefan from CNC Kitchen recycled his PLA at 175 and drilled his nozzle to 2.1mm.
