Topic: FEP leak on resin printer

I finally decided to get my feet wet in Resin printing and Bought a Elegoo Mars 2 with mono screen. I had a print fail part way through and when I pulled the vat to strain the resin I noticed a small spot of resin on the screen. (no protection between FEPand screen)  Luckily their is no damage to the screen waiting on FEP. My question is will it work to put a sheet of Transparency film between the FEP and screen.

Thanks

Should be no issue, but the only way the FEP is going to get damaged is if you miss a floater from a previous print. I am still using my stock FEP from 2 years ago.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Re: FEP leak on resin printer

carl so what you are saying is I should run the strainet throught the vat and check bottom for stick resin between prints. the Stock FEP was 1.5mm the replacement I ordered is 2mm  that extra .5mm should also help.

Thanks

If you can account for every little piece of the print then you could skip straining sometimes. But if you ever even suspect there could be a floater it is best to strain than to take a chance on a puncture or worse cracking the LCD.

It's fine if you get a little resin on the screen, just clean it up with IPA. FEP are consumables and you should always check their "health" when the vat is empty. You can also see if your FEP is getting old if you see linework at the bottom of your prints....this could be from settling and/or significant wear.

Been using a Mars for close to a year. hope this helps.
