Topic: Davinci AIO

Good Evening.

Please can I ask you to be extremely careful with me as I am completelo and utterly new to 3-D printing, I have read and read and read post upon Postand I've come to the conclusion that the Davinci 3-D printer is not recommended by many people but I must stress that I have been given this printerand it has never been used but was purchased in 2015, it has never been used in the five years that it has been in storage it still has the original cassette with the red filament in the cellophane packet

when I switch the printer onthe lights came on but the screen remained blank so I took the front panel off and i  found that the ribbon cable had become detached from the LCD screen now that is fixed and the printer lights up and the screen now comes on and the buttons can be operated and I am happy with that.

This printer hasanot been connected to a PC so I Homesdall the axis and I find that the nozzle is crushing into the side of the bed, is that correct do I need to do any alterations to stop it from crashing into the bed.

I would be extremely grateful for any tips and tricks that I may be able to use to make this printer much better but looking at the posts getting parts for this machine seems impossible and I must admit I attempted to buy a new ribbon cable and I cannot for the life of me get one so once I have learnt how to use 3-D printer I am hopefully going to be changing it for creality CR 10 S4, anyway thank you all very much for accepting me onto these forums and I look very much forward to being an active member.

And just to let everyone know if there is any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors I suffer with a genetic eyesight disorder and I cannot see with my central vision very well, but I have never ever let it get in the way of anything or any hobiesI wish to undertake

Re: Davinci AIO

Welcome to the world of 3D printing!  I have an AiO also and found it to be a very good printer, but not a great scanner.  It is also an excellent printer to learn from.
To answer your question about the hot end bumping into the bed .. this indicates that you need to adjust the leveling wheels to start at a lower level.  After that you will need to make some more adjustments to get the bed level.
3D printing is basically a trial and error process to get settings that result in consistent and high quality prints.  However there are many highly experienced people on this forum which can answer any specific questions you have.

Re: Davinci AIO

thank you very much for your response and thank you very much for the welcome, most people find it hard to believe that I have had a printer in storage for at least the last four years and never done anything with it, I have now done as you suggested and lowered the bed which was an extremely difficult process as the levelling screws seem to been stuck a little however I managed to lower it and I have levelled the bed with a piece of paper unfortunately like an idiot I forgot to heat the bed up so I will do that on another day

I have read many posts about re-flashing with Reetier and I think I will give that a go as I'm not over keen on using the filament from XYZ mainly because of the cost and I like to tinker I'm not bothered about the scanner function and if I destroy the printer it doesn't really matter is four years old although it is a brand-new four year old has never ever been used, thank you very much for your welcome and thank you very much for the information.

To upgrade to Repetier, this is where you start.   https://github.com/luc-github/Repetier- … -4-Davinci

Re: Davinci AIO

Thank you very much for the link that is something that I really want to do however I may sell this printer as I wish to be able to print flexible filament and it looks like this one may be a bit of a struggle.

I sent a request to xyzwWare and they have advised me that I can print with flexible filament but I need to buy their brand of TPU and I met possibly need to have to buy another Hot end just for flexible filament, if I could get around this I would more than happily carry on with this printer but it looks like I may be stuck, if anyone can offer any advice whatsoever on being able to print with flexible filament I would be extremely happy to receive the information.

Re: Davinci AIO

If you upgrade your firmware to Repetier all your concerns are solved.  You can use TPU and several other filaments since you directly set the extruder and bed temperatures.  Also you don’t need to buy XYZ filament nor use their filament cartridge nor worry about how much filament is left on the roll nor change the nozzle.
For reference purposes see.... https://rigid.ink/blogs/news/172062855- … e-filament

Re: Davinci AIO

Thank you tjwhitney for the link, I will be re-flashing this printer to Repetier as I do not wish to be locked in1 ecosystem I'm not very big on being locked in and I like the freedom to do as I wish especially when I own the equipment
