Topic: Da Vinci Nano (Mini) power supply

Hello from Germany.

Sorry, if my English sounds funny, I’m not a native speaker. And google translate is a regular companion.

I got a used Da Vinci Nano from a friend. He never got along with the printer and therefore wanted to throw it away. I already read, the the printer has it downsides. But as i got the printer for free, i would like to play a little with it., I can still throw it away if it is truly unworkable. But I suspekt the Error sat before printer.

Unfortunately, he cannot find the power supply unit or the small accessories such as the cleaning wires at the moment.
Regarding the connector, I would say that it is a 5.5 m connector with 2.5 mm inner diameter.
The type plate on the printer says Input 12V 5A.

Just to be safe with the data, perhaps  one of you has a Nano or Mini and can measure the connector and see what it says on the power supply?
Or is there any experience with non-original power supplies that I have to take into account?

A half-full roll with the original filament including a chip is included, but it will probably have to be replaced. I'm not sure how "good" filament should look like, but that looks very hard and brittle ..
I'm assuming that the filament shouldn't crack when it is unwound from the roll.

The filament is still loaded, so I probably have to clean the printer. Any recommendations how I could best replace the missing cleaning brushes und Pins?

As soon as I could confirm a basic functionality  of the Printer, I‘m willing to invest in a new roll.

Thank you for your answers and your help.

Make sure your polarity is correct. if not you can swap the wires
also check open voltage of any used power supply . I have seen from 9 volts to 18 volts on t a 12 v ps
and consider that 5A rating a minim for sourcing a new one . A 6.5 or 10 amp power supply will not hurt anything.
Many power supplies are listed in watts  12v x 5 A =60 watts

Soliddoodle 4 stock w glass bed------Folger Tech Prusa 2020 upgraded to and titan /aero extruder mirror bed
FT5 with titan/ E3D Aero------MP mini select w glass bed

Re: Da Vinci Nano (Mini) power supply

Good evening everyone.
The Nano works with the borrowed power pack. It really is a 5.5mm plug with a 2.5mm inner part.

After I borrowed a Windows computer , i managed to install a few fireware updates, and the printer is now successfully connected to my Mac.

I cleaned the printer nozzle with an airbrush tool. And I cursed a little until I had leveled the bed in the XYZmaker software (I'll deal with Cura tomorrow) and set the height offset correctly.

Now he's printing.

To make the glass bed more grippy, I used paper tape and a pritt pen for the previous experiments. It does work but the papertape has do be replaced after every print, because it rips when I get the print of

All in all, an instructive and successful day.

To do list:
- see if I can get the filament hack working
- invest in a roll of non-brittle filament
- Set up Cura
- Research other methods to get better grip on the printbed
- prevent my child from crawling into the printer
- Invest in a powerpack, when I have to return the borrowed one

Just for reference, this is the borrowed powerpack.
