Topic: noise level

Are resin printers as noisey as FDM printers?

Re: noise level

The fans are the nosiest part and those can be swapped out for quieter models. If you are thinking of getting one there is an entire new learning curve as in relearning everything you know about 3d printing. Also the parts are usually very brittle and not good for functional or structural parts.

would they do good for lithographs. that is what I would use it for. also My wife has COPD and fumes bother her breathing  are the fumes bad during the printing process. I would clean outside.

Fumes are bad for somebody like her. You would need a filtered enclosure. As for lithophanes it all depends on the machine, settings, and resin. I have never tried one on a SLA but I  am sure it's been done.

Re: noise level

don't forget about the post processing of resin prints.. you need to clean the prints with alcohol to remove excess resin, then it needs to be cured... lots of "chemicals" involved with resin printing. it is not just a print it and done thing like FDM is.

I also have COPD, and will be sticking with the FDM printing - that does not bother me much, if at all. (i realize everyone is different, so what does not bother me may bother someone else)
