Topic: Filament bunching up between extruder gear and E3D V6

This just started happening a few days ago after it has been printing pretty much flawlessly about 12 hrs a day, everyday for the past 3 weeks.  Any ideas as to what could keep causing this to happen?  This one is about 2 hours into a 2.5 hour print:

Looks like it could be a hard clog in the nozzle that's backing up the filament. I'd disassemble and clean the hotend.

SD3 w/ RUMBA (8825s), merlin hot end (in pieces). Ender3 w/ silent board for PLA printing. Ender5 w/ silent board, e3d v6, new z lead screw, and glass bed. DiY Kossel w/ smoothieboard (in pieces). Vellman Vertex (in pieces)
Shapeoko2 router in process of being converted to laser engraver (in pieces)
Multicam 5000 series CNC Router w/ 11HP spindle, 5x10' table, and auto tool changer (in pieces)

Not sure where the design for the mount came from but it is missing an important detail. The inlet of the hotend should be much closer to the gear or there should be a tube from the inlet right up to the gear so there is no space for the filament to move in between the gear and inlet. The there could also be a clog.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

It must’ve been a clogged extruder tip, took it off and cleaned it out, now it’s printing fine.  Also ordered more tubing so I can cut it a little longer, closer to the gears.
