Topic: What are the options right now?

I am confused about the "best practice"  for the Da Vinci Mini W.

I was on firmware 1.2.3 then I accidentally updated to the newest firmware with Cura support. I had a paper tag on the printer which continued to work until it ran out.

When I tried a new tag the printer would not accept it. So I downgraded my printer using this > http://www.soliforum.com/topic/17927/xy … -firmware/

Then the software kept giving me "Cartridge 1 can not be found. Please install one. ERROR CODE:0028" for every tag I tried.

I thought the downgrade messed something up so I tried to restore it using this > http://www.soliforum.com/topic/17845/do … rmininano/

I used up my last 10 tags trying different combinations of firmware, xyzware versions, and NFC devices to program the tags.

Seems like the best option is to use an EMUTAG but I can't find those for sale anywhere. I can't even find the official smart tag from XYZ for sale.

So it seems to me the options out right now are:
1. RAMPS conversion - which is extremely difficult and time consuming
2. Paper tags - I have no idea which firmware or XYZWare version is best for this and I looked. No Cura support?
3. Open Smart Tag - Expensive and out of stock
4. EMUTAG - Not sure of the price but can't find it for sale anyway
5. New 3D printer - probably the best idea but I don't have the money for it

I would really like to get the paper tags working again so I am going to order some more but I'm afraid I'm just going to waste them trying to fix it.

Also, I heard that the printer only stores 100 UID numbers. If that is true can I just buy 101 tags and cycle them?

Re: What are the options right now?

Paper tags are still the best option.  It's a case of getting the right settings when programming them.
What settings did you use on the paper card and what method of writing them did you use?

Emutags still work - I do have spares of these funnily enough - pm me if interested.

I use the android app found on this forum. > http://www.soliforum.com/post/152515/#p152515

The settings I use are:

Material: PLA
Color: Black
Filament Length: 200m

I tried with my Nexus 7 (2013) and Moto Z4.

Can you still use the paper tags on the newest firmware that has Cura support?

Also, does anyone know what a "magiccard" is? I've heard it on this forum a few times but can't really find anything online.
This is the only thing I could really find. It seems like a NFC tag that lets you change the uid. Would that actually work here like the emutag or am I misunderstanding something?
