Topic: DaVinci 1.0A Power supply replacement.

Hello,

I have seen some that posted they replaced the stock power with this one:

http://www.solidgearusa.com/en/product_4/22/

It this a straight up replacement or is there is need to rewire things?  Are there any other recommendations?  I would like to keep the printer self-contained so I would like to have a power supply that fits inside.

I am going to upgrade to an E3D V6 shortly and want to make sure I have enough horse power to power everything, including the upgraded heat bed and the extra fan on the E3D V6.

Thanks

You will need cut and splice some of the connectors the printer uses onto the power supply. Otherwise it is a drop in fit. The connectors the power supply comes with will not connect to the board as these are technically modified PC power supplies.

You will need a total of 3 connectors. 1 is already on the PS and the other 2 you will have to make using one of the old 4 pin connector and one going to the power switch. That's it, you will have a bunch of wires left over to do what ever you want with.

I'm using the e3d on the stock power supply with out issue. I don't know on your heated bed though

Re: DaVinci 1.0A Power supply replacement.

The E3D want draw any more power then your stock heater does. They use the same 12 volt heater cartridge. The bed will be issue, how exactly is upgraded? How many LED's are you planning to add and how many fans are you adding?

The heated bed is slightly more than stock.  Per his web sight it is a 12v 140watt heater.

Here is the bed I have: http://www.davincizone.com/index.php?o … Itemid=239

I guess the only addition to what I have now then would be the fan on the E3D V6 which is 12v I believe.  I plan on repurposing the stock fan and using it as a cooling fan with one of the fan shrouds out there.

I probably don't need to make the move now unless I was cutting it to close for the stock one.  I suppose I could just wait until it goes.  smile

Thanks

So that bed will draw about 11.66 amps.

Re: DaVinci 1.0A Power supply replacement.

The transistor that heats the bed is capable of 55 amps at 25c and 39 amps at 100c so you should be fine. In theory you can run 3 to 4 heat beds off of that 1 transistor so long as they designed enough copper into the mainboard to carry the load. I run a 140 watt heat bed on my stock da vinci and it is fine.
