Topic: Transparent printed part turned yellow/brown

Hi everyone,

I've been using my photon s for a while with the green resin and black one and I've always left the printed parts in the sun for a while to make sure that all the resin was cured.

Now ive printed some transparent resin parts and out of the printer looked awesome, but after 2 hours in the sun, the transparent turned into a yellow / soft brown.

Does anyone have experience with that?
If i Cure the parts with a UV led would happen the same?
Do the parts need to be "painted" with a cleaar paint that protects with UV?

Thanks in advance

Re: Transparent printed part turned yellow/brown

You over cured it and technically burned it. It should never take more than 30 minutes in the sun to cure a print fully. Even in a UV curing box 30 minutes is sufficient. Also bare in mind that with every little exposure to UV the print will continue to cure or burn over time. There is nothing in the resin that makes it stop curing at a certain time or certain level of cure. So clear parts even if cured correctly will still yellow over time if not protected from UV light.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
