Topic: Question about Printing on Borosilicate glass ?

On my old printer I printed PETG with hairspray on a piece of Mirror tile.
on my new printer (Ultimaker with Borosilicate Glass) while printing PETG using the supplied glue stick
Have chipped the bed bad in a few places. My question is can I just turn the plate over and use hair spray
or will the prints not stick. Everything I am reading says I can only print on one side
See article below.

Thanks Dale

Re: Question about Printing on Borosilicate glass ?

IMHO just replace the glass I have used plate glass from the hardware store as well as mirror from the craft store. and you can readily purchase borosilicate glass. from McMaster carr   https://www.mcmaster.com/borosilicate-glass as well as many other vendors.

I had never heard of the side issue but the article makes sense.

And you can always test the theory by flipping it  the worst that could happen failed prints the glass braking ???

Re: Question about Printing on Borosilicate glass ?

Thanks Tim
I did turn it over and try it it worked but I guess I didn't have enough hair spray.
because the corners curled (it was a roll of ABS that came with the Machine) so I will try again with PETG (Carl created a monster when he talked me into swapping over to PETG) its sweet to print with. I have about 5 sheets of Mirror tile that I will cut to size
and not worry about buying Borosilicate its a lot more Money than the Mirror glass.

Thanks Again

I used the mirror tiles for ever. Viva la 70's. I just like PETG. It's strong, it has no real odor, it is tricky to dial in but once done it is just an awesome material that fits so many uses.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Carl
Believe  it or not with my Ultimaker and Cura I used the CPE profile and did not have to make any adjustments.
Im fixing to order an .8mm print core I was told by ultimaker that when I tell Cora which print core is installed the software will automatically make all the necessary changes
