Topic: wiring assistance please

Hello all! I am an amateur with little wiring experience. I am having trouble with the non specific wiring instructions. Perhaps to someone who has experience in this field, it makes perfect sense, but for me, a few things are needed to wrap my mind around assembly. (I don't intend to say these are poor instructions. My limited knowledge is the hurdle here.)

Can anyone help direct me on what to do with these components? I can't find the female ports for the fans. I have no idea what the 2 pronged orange plug is paired with, or how it's connected to power. Is there soldering involved in this process? If so, where, and with which components? This pice of paper included talks about printing gears and spool hub, etc, but there is nothing in the instructions about what this means, nor any stl files for said items. http://soliforum.com/i/?0tarRXN.jpg  I am really lost. http://soliforum.com/i/?9Sc18G8.jpghttp://soliforum.com/i/?qhOivvB.jpg http://soliforum.com/i/?Vj7J04N.jpg What connects to these outlet style plugs, and how? http://soliforum.com/i/?Y0UcLiq.jpg
This is a fantastic concept. I feel dumb trying to assemble it, but I am very thankful to the team for creating it and having the patience to deal with me and other noobs who want to expand our horizons.

Re: wiring assistance please

I have read other help topics where in response, people were encouraged to keep reading the diagram until it works, but I will need assistance above and beyond that if anyone is willing to nudge me in the right direction.

Re: wiring assistance please

well sir you may need to do a bit of self teaching. I suggest learning to read circuit diagrams and schematics.
also learn basic components.
the fourth photo is a k type thermocouple it is the heat sensor for the filasruder. I expect it plugs into the temperature controller.

Re: wiring assistance please

First you should be pulling the protective paper off the housing panels before assembly. Also the white bracket that holds the PID needs to be trimmed if you are using the housing. The wiring diagram is spot on. Like Tin said take some time and teach yourself about electronics its a great opportunity to learn new skills. It ends up being harder to understand when trying to tell some one how to wire it any other way than the diagram

Re: wiring assistance please

Thank you for your responses. I have accepted that this must be taken as an opportunity to learn new skills. I was excited to get it together, since I've been wanting an extruder for a while, but I realize that I need to slow down, and educate myself. (I didn't take the paper backing off yet because I didn't want to scratch anything up while learning how it goes together)
I appreciate the encouragement.

Re: wiring assistance please

That crumpled paper is just some scrap paper we use to protect the fans in transit, it is not meant to be used as instructions.

The Filastruder assembly instructions have both a wiring diagram and step by step wiring instructions. Which step are you stuck on?

Re: wiring assistance please

I'm stuck on not knowing the components' purposes and connection methods. I'm new to this type of assembly and diagram, so I've changed my viewpoint to research and further education instead of expecting convenience and ease. I don't know where the fan ports are supposed to plug in. I'm not sure how the orange thermocouple it connected. I'm not sure where the small heat sink goes, and why it is not connected already. Also unclear what connects to the on-off switches with the traditional plugs on the inside. All of this has lead me to scour the internet for educational material and seek out training to read wiring diagrams. I'm happy to learn a bit about electricity along the way, but excited to get my Filastruder up and running. This feeling of insecurity about my knowledge is good, because it will force me to educate myself in a new field.
Any advice is appreciated. I will triumphantly post photos when I figure it all out. Looking forward to creating my own filament!

That's a good attitude, but do note that the Filastruder product page points out that this product should be purchased and used by people that have prior experience with electromechanical assembly.

The connectors on the fans get cut off, and the wires are run to various places covered in the instructions.

This is covered in the step by step portion of the wiring instructions, which state:

Connect thermocouple, be mindful of the polarity, to Pins 3/4 of the PID.

On the stall protection board's only large IC.

Because you purchased a kit.

The included quick connect/spade terminals.

if you go in to the soliforum discord chat you can find some more help. just dont jump in ask a question and leave because sometimes its takes a little while for the right member to be on and see it
