Topic: Davinci 1.0A with E3D V6 conversion

Hello group. I found the forum as I was searching for the now de-funked Voltivo Forum. Seems a shame it went down. I recently was given a Davinci 1.0A that needed a Hot end. I purchased and installed an E3D v6. I followed a very good Youtube series to get the job done. But in the videos he says that first thing to do is level the bed and do some setting changes. I was unable to do the steps because the unit had no hot end. Would not let me into the proper settings until hot.

So I installed the E3D V6 and figured I'd be able to make the changes after installed.

In my research I have come across several mentions of the Thermister Table needing changed for a E3D hot end. But of course everything is dated by now. The thermister provided is different than the "old" one that they previously used.

BTW I found this forum from a Google search where this subject was discussed, several years ago,

"Davinci 1.0 E3d V6 conversion and temperature values"

So now I have the unit working "kinda" it will start a "Benchy" but not a very good print, and about 2/3rds done it stops feeding filiment.

Any thoughts on this old machine? Do I need to make the changes to the Thermister table? Other settings I need to check?

The machine had Repeter 0.92 installed when I received it, so that is what I have installed for firmware. I loaded Repeter on my laptop for control.

Long winded for a first post.

Do I need to make the changes to the Thermister table?

I would say yes definitely.

In marlin one simply needs to select from a list of  the common thermistor

in this case a  Semitec 104GT > with rh it looks like you need to enter the table.

Also check you max extrusion temp  settings make sure it is a reasonable number.
Too low you risk the extruder cutting out and shutting down the machine too high and you risk damaging the extruder or the thing catching fire.

One you have that installed you need to adjust the PID loop also calibrate the extruder for steps per mm.

Thank you, Tin Falcon. I will take a look at the link.

I do appreciate the help. My first 3D printer and there is quite a learning curve.

Re: Davinci 1.0A with E3D V6 conversion

If it helps Im planning on sending off a thermistor to have it analized and new ones made. It's 100 usd minimum but I'll get several new ones instead of buying a 100 dollar extruder replacement because a wire broke on a thermistor. If enough people want them we can push down the price a bit by buying a larger amount.
